Next to The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD, Nintendo will release a new amiibo for $ 25. Along with Zelda and Loftwing, the figure will add functionality that was missing from the original game. Tap the amiibo on your Nintendo Switch, and Link can quickly take off, even if you’re in the middle of a dungeon. The feature works anywhere on Hyrule’s surface, and you can activate it again to return to where you originally tapped the amiibo to fly.
It’s not something you could do in the 2011 original. Take to Skyward sword aerial overworld required visiting specific points on the surface, and this is something remaster players will need to keep doing unless they purchase the figure. As you can imagine, most Zelda fans aren’t too happy about it. They argue that Nintendo should add the improved travel system for free – although some have also pointed out that they are eager to see how the speedrunning community uses the figure. That said, an amiibo that adds exclusive functionality to a Zelda game is nothing new. In Breath of the wild, you can summon a Wolf Link companion with the Nintendo amiibo released for The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD.
