London [UK], Sept. 15 (ANI): Following discussions between the team and English and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) officials, the possibility that England field an understaffed squad in the next Ashes s’ is considerably increased.
According to ESPNcricinfo, some members of the gaming team and some of the team’s management have been disappointed by the ECB’s refusal to agree to even a partial or even full postponement of the tour. As a result, they reflect on their options. One of those options would be for the entire team – including coaches and support staff – to make a collective decision to boycott the tour.
Also earlier, it was reported that a number of England players may withdraw from the Australia tour if they are not allowed to bring their families. It is unlikely that there will be any relaxation of the 14-day quarantine period by November.
The first men’s ash test is scheduled to start at Brisbane’s Gabba from December 8 before a day and night test at the Adelaide Oval from December 16-20.
For the first time in 26 years, the final ash test will not take place in Sydney. The traditional Boxing Day and New Year’s tests will take place at Melbourne Cricket Ground (December 26-30) and Sydney Cricket Ground (January 5-9) respectively, with the final test scheduled at Optus Stadium in Perth (January 14-18 ).
